This is designed to provide tauira with mana enhancing opportunities.   A space to come together in the spirit of Rehia (Atua of fun and entertainment), to practice uara/values like whānaungatanga, manaaki, kaitaki, to engage with te ao Māori and have fun connecting, sharing and learning through traditional Māori play.   We ask that you promote this within your team, coaches and supporters.

Please familiarise yourself and your tauira with the following rules for this year’s hui tākaro 2025. Please note there the changes due to the size and space available for this year.

We also encourage you to share the pūrākau of KĪ o Rahi with your tauria to gain a better understanding of why KĪ o Rahi was created, the characters involved,  the layout, rules and the values our embedded in taonga tuku iho https://tumatauora.org/toanga-takaro/the-purakau-of-rahitutakahina/

We appreciate that many players, coaches and kaiwawao/refs are still relatively new to KĪ o Rahi and ask that all kura to show aroha to tautoko them.

The rules are below. We are awaiting confirmation for our kaiwawao but please have someone from your kura ready help kaiwawao on the day and encourage all players to be tewhatewha, self reffing and reminder to us al that the kaupapa is based on whakapono, honesty, integrity and mana enhancing behaviours.

There wil be a TATU to decide on 2 or 3 kaitiaki and also if 2 point shots from outside of TE ROTO will be allowed.

We are promoting taonga tākaro, so we are dropping ”paper scissor rocks’ to see who chooses which teams starts. We will be playing whanowhano or whakaropiropiai, both tākaro tawhito, traidtional Māori kēmu. We will send more instructions on these closer to the time.

Coaches, please make sure you complete and download the team list before June 10.

For the schools who have 2 teams registered, can you please indicate if you have split the teams evenly or have an A an& B team. This will help create a draw that ensures all the top ranked teams are not all in one pool. The draw will be relased once we have this information in.

Thank you to all those who have sorted the $100 entry fee, reminder to those who have not yet paid , please let us know if you require an invoce.
